When it comes to writing, it was Mark Twain who said that the difference between a word that is right and a word that is almost right is the difference between the lightning and the lightning bug.
I have been capriciously obsessed with getting an arc floor lamp for the last few weeks and have now reached the stage where I've pretty much narrowed down the choices to about four and where I am stressing over finding the absolute perfect one to go with my LR stuff. It wasn't easy. Gosh, the details! Although, I have to admit, the pool of choices was pretty much an oligo-sort-of-set: more than a few but fewer than many.
Favorite so far - at least from a practicality standpoint - nicely combining looks with a budget is the chrome one above, designed by George Kovacs, and sold on the lamps plus site. I've seen it on other sites as well, sometimes being called the Canna and the home annex has the cheapest option. It also comes in finishes such as nickle or stainless steel with different base options.

Still well within budget is the above-pictured Cleo Brushed Nickel Arc Floor Lamp.
Its shade is a bit bigger in diameter, 13 inches , while the others are around 11 1/2 - 12 inches. This does make it more appealing, as it will look more imposing in the room.

Of course my ultimate, sparkiest, most beautiful, most perfect, most explosive dream lamp is this Castiglioni
Seriously, aren't they all great? Here are some snapshots from one of Apartment Therapy's past contests, where arcs lamps are used. I don't remember the names of the apt. owners, wish I did, but, to their credit, I love their style and, hah, their lightning choices don't bug me!
